A VR FPS / shooting gallery minigame fashioned after Japanese 'Shateki' stalls. Featuring two sets of guns and targets for short-range and long-range plinking. More challenging targets offer higher score when hit, incentivising the player to push themselves.

The aim of this project was to create an immersive environment where players enjoy different forms of target shooting. The rules and visual design of the game draw inspiration from shooting gallery stalls I had enjoyed across various funfair and festivals, while the option long-range shooting and the focus on providing a variety of guns to choose from is inspired by the VR firearms sandbox simulator Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades (H3VR).

Features:

  • Short range (~7m) and long range (15m-150m) target shooting challenges.

  • 6 VR guns, each with a different style of iron sights.

  • Simulated shoulder stock (virtual stock) enables more accurate aiming with realistic handling.

  • Contextual Onboarding: Inspired by H3VR's tutorial scene, tutorial messages update based on the current player's state. E.g. If the player is empty-handed, tutorial shows how to pick up and drop items; if the player's gun is empty, tutorial shows how to reload.
